The cross arm is an important part of the tower. Its function is to install insulators and fittings to support conductors and lightning wires, and keep them at a certain safe distance according to regulations.
It can be divided into: linear cross arm; Corner cross arm; Tension cross arm.
Function of cross arm: the angle iron fixed horizontally on the top of the electric pole, with porcelain bottles on it, is used to support the overhead electric wire.

Usage: linear cross arm: only consider bearing the vertical load and horizontal load of the conductor under the condition of normal disconnection;
Tension cross arm: in addition to bearing the vertical and horizontal load of the conductor, it will also bear the tension difference of the conductor;
Corner cross arm: in addition to bearing the vertical and horizontal load of the conductor, it will also bear a large unilateral conductor tension.
According to the stress condition of the cross arm, single cross arm shall be adopted for the linear rod or the corner rod below 15 degrees, while double cross arms shall be adopted for the corner rod, tension rod, terminal rod and branch rod with a corner of more than 15 degrees. (double cross arms are used for poles in some areas)
The cross arm is generally installed 300mm from the pole top, the straight cross arm shall be installed on the power receiving side, and the cross arm of corner pole, terminal pole and branch pole shall be installed on the stay wire side
